Disney Bounding for Beginners
Have you heard of Disney Bounding? Maybe you have, maybe you haven't. "Disneybounding is a subtler, more fashion-forward way for fans to show their love for Disney. Instead of wearing full-on costumes as cosplayers do, Disneybounders dress up in stylish, everyday outfits (known as Disneybounds) that are simply inspired by a particular character." --Huffington Post
I've been following the Disneybound trend for quite a few years now. Some of my favorite Disney Bounders on Instagram are @followtheyellowbrickgirl @bettyberry @colormemagic @styledbymagic and @hazel_and_bean -- Some of these ladies have such cleaver unique ideas-- it's so cool to see their visions come to life. Sarah from Hazel & Bean has a daugher around Nash's age, so she's my favorite for baby ideas (also she does super fun Disney DIY projects and runs a small Disney shop)
So, moving along, @TheDisneyBound instagram & facebook puts out a challenge every March where they create a Disneybounding theme for each day of the month. The past two years, I followed the hashtag and loved every second of it. This year-- yup, you guessed it-- Nash and I are participating! We aren't doing every single day, but we're definitely doing most of them I think. I'm so excited-- I've been working on some ideas for us... some days will be just me and some days Nash will join in.
This is where my beginners post comes in. Obviously nobody is going out and dropping hundreds on a new, Disney-themed wardrobe-- that would be ridiculous. So what I did first was I took a look at all the clothes I own and pulled out specific items that reminded me of certain Disney characters (colors, styles etc.). From there, I figured out which characters fit into which daily theme. Some characters I chose solely because I had the wardrobe to make it work, not because I really wanted to Disney bound as that character-- but I think that's just how being a beginner works. There are also quite a few pieces that I can use for more than one character, so that's sort of cool too. I put together a doc on my computer of my ideas and wardrobe items, so stay somewhat organized with my days.
Clearly, I'm no pro at this and my looks have nothing fancy or overly creative, but this is one of my favorite social media communities so I'm super super excited to join in this year! And because I spend a lot of time in workout clothes, I also thought it would be fun for some of my Disneybounds to be activewear/loungewear-- so you'll see some of that and then just some regular everyday looks.
If it's something fun you want to join in on I'll post the challenge below. And keep in mind that you can probably whip up most of your looks right from things you already own.

Happy Disneybounding!
